Throughout my high school years, I must say it will be a great memory. From freshmen year to my senior year, I had my ups and downs, but they will all help me out in the future. I remember like it was yesterday, when it was my first day of high school. Not knowing many people especially since I didn't have a sibling going to this school. But that made me become an outgoing person which is helping me out, even till this day. Basketball also helped me meet others in the school, the friends that I hang out with in this school played basketball with me, so that helped me out a lot.
Sophomore year was the year where I slacked off. That year was when I received my first D throughout my whole entire life. I thought since I was on the basketball team and a lot of people were cool with me even the teachers, I thought that I didn't have to work as hard. But that was probably one of the biggest mistakes I made in high school. Junior year was the year when I knew things weren't going my way. In the classroom I had improved from my sophomore year, but basketball it was just horrible. My junior year made me realize that nothing is given to you. You have to work hard for everything that you want. Going into my senior year, I looked back at my junior year and told myself that I don’t want another year like that. So throughout the summer I worked harder than I ever did before in my life. Having that mindset that nothing is given to you and you have to work hard for what you want, made me lose my own time, but I am glad to say that it was worth it. I have made honor roll every quarter. Even though I have struggled in one class that was the hardest class I ever took, I can say that I tried because I did. Basketball would be something I will never forget. Even though our win and lost record wasn't what I thought it would be, individually I have improved tremendously and shocked everybody on the team, even the coaches. Overall, I will never forget my high school years. The ups and downs will be something I can carry throughout my life. I learned that it doesn't matter who you are, if you work hard in something you love and put your mind and time in it, nothing but positive results will show. Carrying that mindset into college will definitely help me out in the classroom and out the classroom. High school definitely prepared me for my next four years of my life and all I can say is that I am determined and ready! |
